Mount Dora Invites Convention To Florida Meeting

Spurred by the success of the Pythian Convention in Mount Dora, the local chamber and commercial organization invite the Florida Commercial Secretaries Association to hold its 1937 meeting there. They will cooperate in entertainment if the group chooses Mount Dora next year.

Mount Dora Cafe Set To Open Saturday

Mount Dora cafe will open Saturday at the former Blue Bird site on Fifth avenue under Mrs Kittrell. The cafe will offer table service and a lunch counter with 35 cent lunches and dinner, plus short orders and sandwiches. Mrs Kittrell brings sixteen years of catering experience and will run Mount Dora alongside the Lake View Hotel in Tavares. Mr Kittrell remains at the Lake View while she operates the Mount Dora cafe.

Kiwanis Inter-Club Meeting Draws Kiwanis members

Nearly 150 members from six Kiwanis Clubs of Lake County gathered at the Floridian Hotel Howey-in-the-Hills for a semi annual inter club meeting. S C Cooley of Tavares coordinated the county wide Inter-Club Committee and Blondie Bunnell of Eustis led program and golf events. Karl Lehmann served as master of ceremonies with short talks from W J Howey H V Conditt and C Harold Hippler. Mount Dora club members attended and the high school graduating class was guest at luncheon delivering a program.

Mount Dora High to Hold 1936 Commencement

The Class of 1936 graduation at Mount Dora High School will take place in the Community Building Friday at 8:00 p.m. Hon. James J. Banks Jr. of Orlando will deliver the address. Hundred Acre Wadsworth Grove Sold to Umatilla Fruit Co

The Wadsworth grove east of Tangerine was sold this week to the Umatilla Fruit Company for about 45000 cash through Lakes and Hills Realty. The Wadsworths planted the grove in 1914 and J C Cooper of Mount Dora managed it to production. New 100 acre grove is under development at Mt Homer between Tavares and Eustis.
