Mount Dora High to Hold Year End Activities and Awards
Mount Dora High School seniors prepare a finale of ceremonies starting with Awards Day this Friday at 1 45 p m in the gym. Varsity letters Babe Ruth and Lions Club awards along with scholarships are planned as the public attends the Awards Night May 30 at 8 p m in the Mount Dora Community Building. Baccalaureate is June 3 at 8 p m and graduation on June 6 in the same building with co valedictorians Tracey Berghuis and Diane Miller and salutatorian Bill Labud delivering addresses. A correction notes a donor attribution error to the Woman's Club of Mount Dora for a prior Dunham Fund list.

Mount Dora group Concerned Citizens elected permanent officers at a reorganizational meeting in the Bank of Mount Dora. Dean Van Landingham was named president with Sidney J. Johnson as vice president, Mrs. Arthur Jewell secretary, and Mrs. James Giordano treasurer. Directors announced seven committee heads and bylaws were referred to directors for review ahead of a general meeting set for June 2.

Memorial Day office closures and service notices
Mount Dora will observe Memorial Day on May 28 with City Hall Community Building Public Library and the post office closed all day and no home mail delivery. The Mount Dora Chamber of Commerce and local financial institutions will also observe the holiday while most businesses stay open and The Topic office maintains normal hours.
