The Community Center hosted a well received concert directed by John M. Hawkins. Students from second grade through high school performed choral and band pieces in memory of Mr Sedano who fostered Mount Dora music since 1940. The audience donated $91 to the music department as encouragement.

The Sanford Chamber of Commerce welcomed the Mount Dora group for an 8 p.m. May 12 meeting in city hall. Ed Mitchell chaired the session featuring Hartley Pendleton editor of the Eustis Region News who urged small towns to use larger papers for free publicity and to share local details from metropolitan areas to boost local facilities. The Veterans Memorial association invites Honorable Francis P. Whitehair to speak at the cornerstone laying for the Veterans Memorial home and at Memorial Day services.
