Mount Dora Baseball Team Seeks Local Support

Mount Dora residents are urged to attend an open meeting next Thursday at 8 PM in the Community building to reorganize the Mount Dora Baseball Association. Manager Tom Cooley says the club needs moral and financial backing, better ballfield facilities, transport for players, and improved attendance to stay active. He notes the team has won 83 to 0 over Winter Garden last Sunday and will face Tavares at home Wednesday and Umatilla on Sunday.

Lake County PTA Council Meeting Adopts Delinquency Study Plan

Lake County Council of PTA met at Groveland High School cafeteria with 60 attendees. Mrs. J E Guy presided and outlined state nominations, urged sending teacher aid kits overseas, and discussed a two day Easter holiday. A Tallahassee summer institute outline was given and a juvenile delinquency study was presented. A resolution proposed allocating half the race track tax to the county school board for legislators.

Eustis Zone Meeting Set for Montverde May 13

An all day W S C S Eustis zone meeting will be held at the Montverde Methodist church on Tuesday May 13. A covered dish lunch will follow at noon and members are urged to attend for conference reports and valuable information.

Lake County Car Tags Promote County Attractions

Lake County Florida car tags advertised by the Lake County Chamber of Commerce offer three types for publicizing the county. The front tag in license tag style costs 25 cents, a reflector tag in green blue and amber costs 25 cents, and initials reflector tags priced at 30 to 35 cents. Tags are sold at cost through the Chamber of Commerce office in the courthouse at Tavares.

Mount Dora Names Richard G. Shipes Police Chief

Mayor J. E. Fortner announces the appointment of Richard G. Shipes as Mount Dora police chief effective today. Shipes has served 14 years on night duty and has lived in Mount Dora since 1916 with his wife and children.
