Homefront wartime outlook and wartime shortages report
Amid Tunisia gains and Attu Pantelleria victories the war is not expected to end quickly with heavy home casualties anticipated when invasions hit Europe. OWI warns casualties may rise in 1943, while food shortages loom and labor tightens though more women work. OPA lowers meat prices and simplifies coffee rationing. Bean beetles threaten crops and wool quotas are lifted.
