P T A Considers Reopening Lunchroom Under New Plan

The P T A Executive Board met to address the 1943 44 school year problems notably the closing of the WPA operated lunchroom. A private operator is sought to run it on a paying basis with guidance from Mrs. R Christie of 619 East 7th avenue who has chaired the lunchroom for three years.

Doctors Attend Conventions In Florida And Beyond

Drs. E. C. Devorsak and Milded Marsh spent Sunday in Jacksonville for the State Chiropractors convention at the Seminole hotel. Dr. Marsh heads to Palm Beach for the Swedish Massage Association’s first official meeting, then to Cleveland for ten days before returning to Mount Dora. Dr. Devorsak leaves on June 20 for Bridgeport, Conn., for the summer.

Ledger Home Sold to New Residents on Donnelly Avenue

Marine Reserve reported to Duke for Officer Candidate School

Brugs Kennedy reported to Duke University in Durham North Carolina on July first to begin Officer Candidate School training. He is among fifteen Marine Corps Reserves nationwide to be called and he passed the intelligence test on April twentieth.

Electric service shutoff planned for Mount Dora

The Florida Public Service Company will turn off electric current Sunday from 9 to about 11 am to install fuses at its Mount Dora sub station. Officials expect less inconvenience in the early morning, with the outage lasting approximately two hours.

Mount Dora Officer Rescues Stranded Bird Dog

Mount Dora police officer R G Shipes rescued a distressed bird dog near Lake Gertrude after neighbors reported barking. The dog was tangled in a loosened chain caught in saw grass and had no identification tags. The owner remains unknown, but the act earned gratitude from the dog’s owner and community.
