Lions Club Elects Officers and Plans Legion Event

At the Lions Club meeting in the Community Building A W Rehbaum Jr was named president with L Grady Simpson and Ed Brooks as vice presidents. New secretary is Gordon Conboy and treasurer Bill Stewart. Directors Miller Reid and Sam Swiger will serve two years with Howard Simpson and Murray Hinson as holdovers. District Governor Hoke Johnson will install officers June 27 at the Yacht Club Ladies Night. Lions Swiger Tremain and Gargano were assigned to help at the Legion fish fry at Gilbert Park on the 16th at 6 o clock with proceeds to the Legion junior baseball club.

A Gil bert Park beautification project on Lake Dora’s south edge will add beach space by removing weeds along the lake with a sand sucking machine. City sponsored, about 400 yards long and 40 feet wide, the work is supervised by Councilmen M F Turner and Richard Eddy with Gene Garner operating the equipment. No completion estimate available.
