Mount Dora Civic Group Seeks Bowling Club Input

A mail questionnaire titled Our Mount Dora Civic Social Cultural Recreational is sent to organizations including the bowling club. Lewis Shipley and Al Berry lead the joint effort with the Chamber of Commerce and Development Committee to gather publicity ideas and member impressions of bowling. The note also highlights library material and a historical lawn bowling reference to Sir Francis Drake with a grandstand for visitors at Cypress Gardens.

Band Boosters Celebrate Year of Support and Growth

Stephen Vaughn notes a successful year for the Mount Dora Band Boosters highlighted by a Nassau trip won by Dr. W W Mockett. About 165 community members joined the 500 Club as donations from Lions Rotary Kiwanis and Bank of Mount Dora provided working capital. Expenditures included uniforms repairs and new instruments and a Gainesville trip for halftime shows. Ed Pitzer was installed as president with Everett Kelly, F B Lunsford, and Sidney Johnson in other posts.

Miss A Martha Schutte 71 Final Rites Held

Miss A Martha Schutte 71 died Sunday after residing in Mount Dora for four years. She previously lived in St Cloud for 13 years and was a member of the Order of Eastern Star Staten Island Chapter 75 and Mount Dora Woman's Club. Survived by sister Mrs Gesine Gericke of Mount Dora. Rev Kenneth Book officiated at Rehbaum Chapel with Rehbaum Funeral Home in charge.

LSJC President Hosts Tea For Graduates At Silver Lake Campus

Dr. Paul P. Williams president of Lake Sumter Junior College and Mrs. Williams hosted a tea honoring graduates and their parents. The event ran from 4 to 5 p.m. at the library on the Silver Lake campus with secretarial staff assisting at the serving table.

Lake Griffin Park Receives $40,000 for New Buildings
