Robert G. Wells at 350 Sixth Avenue Mount Dora aged 20 graduates July 8 from the Hospital Corps School at Great Lakes Illinois as part of a class of 504 Blue Jackets from 43 states. The District Eleven Welfare Board for Marion Sumter Lake and Polk counties met in Eustis on July 8. Two Hundred Attend Christian Life Institute South Florida

The South Florida Section of the Christian Life Institute of the Methodist church draws about 200 attendees including faculty at Lakeside Inn. Mount Dora Surpasses Scrap Rubber Goal In Drive

Mrs. H. T. Fenn, salvage chair man, reports Mount Dora collected 41,853 pounds of scrap rubber, over 20 tons, as Lake County communities tally strong totals. Leesburg reported 465,217 pounds, Eustis 121,521, Tavares 47,296, Clermont 35,400, Groveland 27,000, with other towns not yet reported. The initial Lake County quota was 81,765 pounds but was increased after the extension.

Birth certificates waived for certain war plant workers

Birth certificates are no longer necessary to prove citizenship for applicants to war production plants. The applicant makes a simple declaration and signs it in the presence of an army or navy district procurement factory or plant protection representative.
