Home Demonstration Club Meets At Tavares For Rug Work

Mount Dora club members toured the County Kitchen and Mrs. Allen's office where bulletins on meat canning pickling redecorating furniture and curtains were distributed. They viewed hooked rug samples and planned summer work. Next meeting at Mrs. George Raymonds 1022 Donnelly Ave on July 8 from 2 to 5 PM invites all interested in hooked rug making. After grape harvest plant a legume cover crop between trellises.

Mount Dora residents urged to keep all dogs on their premises until further notice to protect children and animals. Police will capture dogs at large. Owners who have not paid the license fee are asked to do so immediately. Mayor W. E. Lackey issues the order.

Fourth Of July Program Full Day Of Big Events

Mount Dora prepares for a record Fourth celebration with a dedication of the American Legion Monument and a full day of events. The program includes a street parade, dedication ceremonies led by Gov. John W. Martin, a motorcade to Rock Springs for a barbecue, athletic field meet at Heim Field, baseball at Heim Field, a street dance, and a full day of music by the Clermont Municipal Band. Prizes are offered for parade participation and various races, with support from American Legion Posts, Boy Scouts, Girls Scouts, and local civic groups.

All businesses in Mount Dora will close Saturday for the Independence Day events and Memorial Monument dedication hosted by the American Legion. Drug stores, restaurants, and hotels remain open while shoppers are urged to complete Friday purchases.

Motor Boat Race From Jacksonville

The Junior Chamber of Commerce in Jacksonville plans its first annual Marathon Motor Boat Race on Sunday July 12. The course runs 55 miles from Jacksonville to Green Cove Springs and back. Open to all classes, both inboard and outboard runabouts, with prizes for first to third in several inboard and outboard divisions.
