Exchange Breaks With Clearing House Over Proposals

The Exchange refuses to cooperate with the Clearing House citing that last Friday's proposals do not meet its demands. The Committee of Fifty says reorganization should begin immediately as negotiations with the Exchange Board are deemed useless. Henderson notes the Exchange was expected to accept the proposals, which addressed its principal objections to the Operating Committee.

Miss Lane Attends Florida Secretaries Convention

Miss Louise Lane secretary of the Mount Dora Chamber of Commerce spent two days in Lake Worth for the twelfth annual Florida Commercial Secretaries Association convention at the Florida Hotel. Sessions ran twenty minutes with equal discussion time. speakers included Dean Matherly of the University of Florida. George F. Sampson was elected president and W. T. Simpson secretary treasurer. next year’s meeting will be in Winter Haven.

Welfare Council Formed in Lake County for Health and Welfare Efforts

The Lake County Welfare Council on Health Social Welfare and Education was organized to study county needs coordinate agencies promote activities and interpret White House conference findings. It plans a county health survey with nurses and volunteers and to begin parent education with officers led by S H Bowman.

Free Health Lectures.by Prof Wm Hugh Newkirk

Professor William Hugh Newkirk will present three free health lectures this week at the Methodist church. The first is this evening at 7 30, a ladies only session is set for Friday at 3 00, and the final talk Friday night at 7 30. Newkirk is a graduate of the New School of Health in Chicago. The school originated in Vienna and was brought to the United States seven years ago. He has lectured for three years, typically under the Parent-Teacher association, though the local group is not functioning here.

Conference on Flood Menace in Upper Ocklawaha

A conference is expected to convene at Moss Bluff at 9:00 a.m. today to discuss the high water in the upper Ocklawaha system. Mr. M. H. Guise of the Florida Humus Company at Zellwood received a summons from the U S Engineer Office in Jacksonville to attend. The high water is causing substantial property damage and Mr. Guise has prepared measures.
