Housewives Use Canning Kitchen Initiative At School Facility
Eight women used the community canning kitchen on Tuesday and produced 182 tons of product. They shelled four hampers of shell beans and stored them in the refrigerator awaiting canning supplies. A can of corn and Florida lima beans was donated to the Topic. The kitchen, sponsored by the Home Demonstration Club, is run by a committee led by Mrs H Andrews and enables all local women to preserve fruits and vegetables with supervisor help. It shares space in the school cafeteria with access to the building’s electricity and water, arranged through Mrs H T Fenn.
