Ronald Reagan campaign headquarters opens Sunday afternoon at 323 N. Alexander St Mount Dora with an open house. Attendees include Jeanne Rodriguez secretary of the Florida Republican Party Evelyn Logas Lake County precinct organizer Verta Burke county committee director Bob Pearson treasurer and Dawn Aurell committee chair. Office hours are 10 am to 6 pm Monday through Saturday with Friday 7 to 10 pm for men's volunteer night.

Mount Dora Prepares Power Boat Regatta and Art Festival
Planning continues for two major Mount Dora events with a power boat regatta slated for Sunday January 25 and the second annual Mount Dora Art Festival on February 7–8. Racing will include a parachute display and Liters-Class hydroplanes. entries feature Duff Dailey and Sherman Polhamus among others. The art festival expects 309 artists and tight rules on concessions, with children’s exhibits and puppet shows planned. Authorities anticipate larger crowds than last year’s 30 000 to 50 000 as streets may remain open for through traffic per a friendly letter from local merchants.

Tax aid available for exemptions and taxes starting Friday
Beginning this Friday January 16 a representative from the County Property Appraiser's office will visit towns to assist residents with homestead and agriculture exemptions widow and disability claims and tangible personal property tax returns for 1976. Filing deadlines shorten to two months with March 1 1976 for most forms and April 1 1976 for tangible property returns. Receipts prove filing for homestead and agriculture exemptions. The office does not handle intangible personal property tax returns.
Mount Dora Youth Is Charged With Burglary
Ernest Siplen, 18, of 1300 North Grand View Street Mount Dora, was arrested after police spotted him allegedly in the act of burglary at 2 32 p m near 1403 North Tremain Street. He was held in the city jail awaiting transfer to Lake County Jail.

Spirit of '16 time capsule items sought in Mount Dora display
Items to be buried in the Spirit of ’16 time capsule will be on display in the Mount Dora Chamber of Commerce Baggage Room all day January 31. Slides of older Mount Dora homes shown hourly. Citizens clubs churches and schools invited to contribute via the Chamber or Mrs Della Noyes. Capsule burial set for February 12 in Donnelly Park.

Wald Elected City Council President In Mount Dora

About 150 members and guests attended the Mount Dora Chamber of Commerce dinner at Lakeside Inn. Retiring president Ermyne Pearson, the first woman in that role, praised the past year and highlighted projects such as the Depot parking lot paving, the What is? cultural series, the youth survey, sidewalk sale, and the Visit Mount Dora program. Incoming president Rex Flohr set growth goals while Major General Joe Potter spoke on Walt Disney World’s expansion plans and future attractions.
