The city issued building permits in 1975 totaling 769000 a 50 percent drop from 1974. The largest project was a 124000 addition to Mount Dora High School. 16 new houses were permitted, along with one duplex, and several residences in the 50000 to 60000 range.

Stephen J. Simon, 28 year old sergeant of the Lake County Sheriff's Department, is appointed Mount Dora police chief by Mayor Tom Champion, effective Jan. 3. Simon, a Mount Dora resident, will continue department upgrades and professionalism, with praise from Sheriff Guy Bliss and outgoing Chief C. T. Clark.
