The Shuffleboard Club sends new year greetings as a quiet week ends with chilly days. Four weeks ago Mount Dora hosted a Mid-Florida visit with 13 courts in play. Mount Dora won 23 to 17. No playoff due to cold winds. Lyle Wood and John Rhodes won first consolation in the Northern District tournament at Edgewater.
A new lawn bowling class will start shortly after the new year and signups are open this week. Members celebrated Christmas with 122 attending a tree gathering featuring Santa, singing, gift unwrapping and a $180 donation to Christian Home and Bible School singers.
Last Tuesday 13 courts saw E Therrien in charge with winners in playoff led by first high Red F Garbe J Whitehead team and second high Black Cora McCon nell Tom Parke. Saturday 12 courts with R Peterman in charge saw first high Red J Whitehead Ken Small 261, against first high Black C Whitehead D Fletcher 252. second high Red M Fairbanks M Cunningham with J Sweitzer Peterman 202. winners were first and second high black. Happy New Year toast urges health, friendship, and reflections on the year.
The Woman’s Club of Mount Dora will host Josephine Bouton Bleeker speaking on Have Fun Being Yourself at 1 30 p m in the Community Building on Wednesday January 1 1976. Mrs Albert Ward chairs hostesses for the ten hour following the program assisted by Mrs Joseph D Viden Mrs E G Wilsey Mrs G F Griffiths Mrs Harold A Rice and Mrs Walter Rowley.
