Clearwater Lawn Bowling Club opens new clubhouse and rinks
The Clearwater Lawn Bowling Club celebrated its new clubhouse and 18 full size rubico rinks with a Sunday tea. Mount Dora delegates and local members toured facilities noted for a four to five block recreation area, a water view, windbreaks, and modern amenities. The club announced its March 4 annual meeting and hosted intramural trebles results and upcoming Florida mixed trebles tournament on February 27 and 28.

A Florida trooper credited a safety belt with saving a Georgian from serious injury after a car crash on U S 441 east of Mount Dora. Mrs S A Frederick of Fort Valley Ga drove the car with husband and back seat occupant unbelted. an elderly rear passenger suffered a head cut. Spreader was towed by a tractor driven by Gilbert Hill of Mount Dora. Hill faced an improper lane change charge. Front passenger door torn off. other door caved in.

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday at 10 a.m. from Zeller Kennedy and Hamlin Funeral Home in Eustis for Raymond Haff 77 who died Monday. Father Charles H Hay officiated. Born in New York he moved to the Mount Dora Tavares area seven years ago. A retired DuPont Co executive and Stephens Institute graduate he is survived by one nephew and two nieces.
