More than 200 Cub Scouts and parents attended a Blue and Gold Dinner at Mount Dora High School to close Scout Week Feb 7 13. Dignitaries included Dr Charles Alcott Pack 19 cubmaster and Dr F P Hatfield Central Florida Council BSA. Ed Waite Kiwanis sponsor received a plaque. Over 170 local Scouts, 50 in Troop 19, plus a Negro troop, were noted along with awards for Lion Bobcat Wolf Bear Gold and Silver Arrows. The Lake District banquet in Leesburg drew 150 adult scouters. growth figures cited show 12 000 Central Florida District scouts at year end 1963 rising toward 26 000 in seven years.

Dwelling Fire Destroys Ed Gar Adams Home in Mount Dora
Firefighters responded to a small dwelling near Grandview Street and Jackson Avenue that burned on the evening of February 6. A separate grass fire on 11th Avenue near the 1200 block was reported Monday afternoon, and last Saturday an oil heater overheated at 1202 North Donnelly Street.

Memorial Rites Held Wednesday For Miss Conelly
Memorial services for 16 year old Lee Sharon Conelly were held at the Chapel of Zeller Kennedy and Hamlin Funeral Home in Eustis with Lero Mertz as reader. Conelly, a Mount Dora High School student and Poppy Queen nominee, belonged to Future Homemakers of America and the Rainbow for Girls. Survived by her parents and a sister, services were led by local clergy and the funeral home oversaw arrangements. Mount Dora Jaycees sponsor a seat belt sale to promote safety for families. Belts cost 10 dollars per seat or five dollars per set, with installations at the First Methodist Church lot Cheatham's Amoco and Griggs 66 service station. The belts meet SAE Federal and state specs. The First National Bank will install two belts free of charge for new car financing. State Rep Leighton L. Baker teams with two Anniston residents and a Miami companion on a voyage from Bogota northwest into Colombia’s backcountry.
