Musical program Sunday evening at Methodist Church

Sere R Betts of Corning will appear at the Methodist church Sunday evening at 7 30 for a worship service. Betts will perform on Marimba musical saw mandolin Hawaiian guitar and bells, assisted by Zadok Arkush at the piano. Arkush is a veteran pianist and California entertainer with a notable World War service story.

Eustis Plans Major Washington Birthday Celebration

Eustis will host a full day event on February 22 featuring International Nautical stunt crew in motor boats, a circus baby parade, carnival, fireworks, and a Waterways congress at the Fountain Inn from 10 am to 2 pm with leaders in water trance movements expected to attend. The program touts outboard speed boat stunts and a parade for children under eight.

Five new ornate street lights installed on Highland Ave

The town Lighting Committee finished installing five overhead lights on Highland avenue from the railroad overpass to the Orange county line. The globe lights use holophone refractors for targeted beams and plan to extend lighting toward Fifth Street and Grandview. Four white way standards will be added on the overpass within ten days to improve access to Mount Dora from the south.

Registration books open across county precincts

Mrs. M. E. Miller, supervisor of registration, announced that registration books will open in each precinct on Monday March 2. Beginning the first Monday in Austria, all books will be returned to the courthouse and will be open there for registration during March. Registration may also be possible each Saturday morning at the courthouse until March 2.

Townsend to Hold Winter Rally at Cassadaga

A Townsend members rally is set for February 22 at Cassadaga with a picnic lunch and varied sports. State Area Director Roberts will speak. the assembly hall seats about eight hundred and Cassadaga offers shops and hotels nearby. Route via Sanford Road from Mount Dora to Orange City then east.

Lakeside Inn Hosts Guests and Winter Music Event

The Lakeside Inn welcomes numerous guests from Montreal to Philadelphia and beyond, with a February 13 reception for Mount Dora artists directed by Wayne Richardson. Florida Waterways Congress Set For Eustis Meeting

About 200 state waterway groups will gather in Eustis Saturday at 10 for Florida’s first annual Waterways Congress. Delegates from Volusia Lakeland Haines City Stuart and Jacksonville join leaders like A F Knotts to discuss cross state canal and Ocklawaha projects. After the meeting the group will cruise to Mount Dora Leesburg and return to Jacksonville.

Art League Annual Exhibit Opens Next Week in Mount Dora

The Mount Dora Art League announces its annual exhibit opening Monday February 24 and running daily 10 a.m. to noon and 4 to 6 p.m. through March 1 at the Malone Realty Company building Fifth Avenue. Tea offered Sunday 4 to 6 p.m. Admission is free. Thirty members including five from Eustis display a variety of arts and crafts. The league’s usual meeting will be held this afternoon in the Community church kitchen.

State Board of Health reports on municipal well water samples last week. One sample shows a bacterial count of and 130, indicating low contamination and the heat character of the water. The report states there is no mentation and no color content, confirming very good quality.
