Second Sailing Race Of Winter Regatta Series

The Mount Dora Winter Regatta continued with a second sailing race on a three mile course. Brugs Kennedy led start to finish for a clear victory at 3 40 with an elapsed time of 1 hour 20 minutes. Jinx and Star followed, Spray won the 18 foot class, and next race is set for February 20 at 2 00 pm from Mount Dora Yacht Club pier.

Zellwood Boy Earns Honors at Lees-McRae College

Ernest Parkhurst of Zellwood made honorable mention on Lees-McRae College Banner Elk North Carolina honor roll for the second quarter and first semester. Speed Boat Races Begin Saturday at Mount Dora Yacht Club

In sponsorship with the Chamber of Commerce the Mount Dora Yacht Club will host a series of handicap boat races starting Saturday February 20 at 3 00 PM. Six motor boats including fast Chris-Crafts have entered and organizers expect more entries. A fast outboard motor boat race will precede and follow the larger boat contest.

Jock Harris, noted Scotch comedian and concertina accordion artist, will headline in full Highland costume with song, dance and storytelling. The Mount Dora Art League announces its annual exhibition from February 24 to March 8 at 418 Donnelly Avenue opposite the Hotel Mount Dora. Opening day tea will be served from 3:00 to 5:00 PM. Mr and Mrs Harry H Mallory have purchased a 133 by 160 foot building lot at Sixth avenue and McDonald street Mount Dora overlooking Lake Dora. White Hussars To Give Program At The Tourist Club

Herbert Petrie and His White Hussars a versatile colorful musical group booked for Mount Dora Tourist Club next Tuesday evening. The company known coast to coast has performed before hundreds of universities colleges and clubs in the United States and Canada. Their show features brilliant white and gold uniforms precise movement and vigorous vitality. Petrie a producer and director from the American Conservatory of Music has led concerts for seven years. The Hussars previously appeared in Mount Dora to great delight.
