Huge Checkerboard Innovation In Park

An enormous checkerboard designed for park use features six inch diameter checkers with thick kings. Moves use a bamboo cue with a hook and ringed pieces for jumping, while non jumping moves push the piece like shuffleboard. Built by Builders Supply Company, the board folds for storage and weather protection, credited to Mrs. Zell.

The Rollins College Players presented two one act plays The Chased Lady and Neighbors to a large appreciative audience on Friday at the Tourist Club in the Auditorium. The club announced plans for February 20 a pageant Indian Life The Spirit of Wekiwa with singers actors and choral club in costume. Membership totals reached five hundred seventy four with promise of further programs and activities.

Cliff White and Miss Florence Hibbard were returning from Daytona Beach when a head-on collision with W M Osteen of Lake Helen damaged both cars. White summoned help from Mount Dora and deputies were alerted as the two occupants escaped serious harm.

McMurray First In Bank Essay Contest

The Mount Dora schools awarded prizes in the First National Bank essay contest. Robert McMurray won first prize for 11th grade with $10 in gold.
