The Mount Dora Woman's Club held a bridge and tea event on December 19 with a cake table. Mrs. Roland Morse led ways and means with aides Mrs. Burr and Mrs. Clowes. The mid year luncheon is set for January 9 at Lakeside at 1 pm with reservations due by January 5. Members unable to attend may join the following meeting.
Mount Dora School fifth graders presented a Christmas play "Christmas at Home" to an appreciative audience. Cast included Mr Fred Shelbourne George Lashar and several Shelbourne children with a radio program, carolers, and a tree scene.
Winter visitors, whether here for the season or only briefly, are urged to register at the chamber of commerce office on Fifth Avenue.

The DeLand area lawn bowling club reports a revived league with new members including the Peabody Club of Daytona Beach. Matches will run Mondays and Fridays with one team at home and one away each week, culminating in a March gathering hosted by DeLand. A wedding and a tragic accident are noted among member activities.

The church features greens and red poinsettias and paneling behind the pulpit thanks to Dr Arthur Peabody Pratt who designed and directed the work assisted by Howard Mellum Swartz and Warringer for staining and painting funded by friends of the church.
The Rev William S Beard D D will preach at Community Church Sunday morning. He has served in New Hampshire Conmegnate and with The Church Extension Board Missions and Layman's Advisory Council and lately assisted Rollins College president Holt. Mrs Beard winter in Tangerine.
Mount Dora forms a town basketball squad and opens with a 30 to 21 win over the Court House Five of Tavares at the high school gym. Turner coaches with Cecil Parker Dizzy Dean Ernest Minkley Clayton Tremain and the Frencharms among the players as spectators fill the stands.
Mount Dora boys and girls teams are set to play the Alumni here tomorrow at 7 30 p m. The rival game features local players and a pregame showcase.
The Lake County Chamber of Commerce reports rapid growth in memberships with many renewals and new signups. Max E Wettstein and former Secretary Karl Lehman boosted activity, as new members arrived at the office and contributing sustaining tiers increased. If sustained, totals may approach or exceed last year’s figures.
