Thalian Club Presents Micado Venues in Venice The Thalians stage a playful production with authentic costumes and a comic plot ending happily in Venice.

The Thalians present Micado here on February 8th featuring Myrtle Henderson as soloist in The Waltz and several vocal selections by Fox Arditti Ingelfritz and others. Cast includes Walter Myer Murry Mears Dorothy Corbett Claire Ortofski and more in Venetian roles. The program blends music and stage farce with a political spoof and bright costumes.

Mount Dora Yacht Club Announces Winter Race Series

The Mount Dora Yacht Club outlines a winter race schedule starting January 2 with monthly events except the fourth Sunday. Races use a triangular course, with classes for moths, comets, open, Star, and day boats, handicapped by time. Poise finished in 3 20 35 after a 35 minute 32 second run, while Ohio completed in 3 26 48.

Christmas vesper program at the Community Church featured the choir with violin selections and carols. Soloists included Esther Wyatt and Maxine Sal, with Florence Gilbert Hanscom as organist and Mrs C M Brown assisting on piano.

Kiwanis Club Plans Christmas Program and Training School

Kiwanis members radioed plans for a Christmas program led by Rev. M J Houterse with Mrs Houterse and Mrs C M Brown presiding. They reported on the Kiwanis Training School at Tavares and named T M Kramer director for 1938. Visitors included A M Engelhard M L Wienbroeder and William Zeller. Attendance prize went to W L Barnett. The first January meeting will be January 7 with the Mount Dora Chamber of Commerce annual meeting.

Christmas Cantata Fills Methodist Church With Pageantry

The Methodist church was filled Sunday night for the Christmas cantata The Music of Christmas directed by Mrs C M Gudg eon with a 24 voice choir Mrs Gudgeon on organ and Mrs C M Brown on piano. Soloists included Mrs Van Voorhis Mrs Colley Miss Hariet Banks Mr Kenneth Mayer and Mr W J Ferris. The church decorations featured evergreen cedar trees and a large star while candles lit the choir loft as the lights were dimmed for effect.

Constable Cooper Arrests Four Suspects in Thefts

Constable Clarence Cooper arrested four individuals last week. A. J. Jones was bound over to Circuit Court for breaking and entering after thefts valued at 16.88 from Ben Lewis’s East Town storehouse. Willie Davis fled into Blackwater Swamp and entered Jesse Hobdy’s home, with items valued at 0.43. Johnny was nabbed in Blackwater for breaking into M. F. Cowart’s Sorrento store, goods worth 119.55. Another arrest noted for concealed weapons.

Christmas Celebration At Mount Mora School Details

Tuberculin Test Planned for Lake County Students

Mount Dora High to Stage Headed for Eden Comedy

The Mount Dora High School junior class selects Headed for Eden a three act comedy by Sidney Dewall to be performed Friday at the community building. The play follows six boarders in Mrs Skipworths rooming house with tangled plots and mistaken identities as reporters and clerks chase stories in Chicago setting.
