Yacht Club Sailing Race Report

The Ohio, Comet, and Poise yachts raced a double triangular course from the club pier on Sunday at 2 45 pm in 15 to 25 mph winds. Poise led first leg times, Poise finished 3 52 41 with five miles in 59 minutes, Ohio and Comet retired as wind faded.

Full Ticket Wins In Town Election

With no opposition, the entire town ticket was elected on Tuesday as 104 ballots were cast. Re-elected officials include M. W. agers for Town Clerk Tax Collector and Willinson Simpson. Park Commission 5 year term Mrs. Mabel M. Cleray. Park Commission 3 year term Carl S. Graves. Board of Election 1 year term L. F. Jackson. Voters praised the town’s efficient governance.

Bowling Club Sees Strong Start To Season

Bowling members return early and kick off with a four team match where Mount Dora defeated DeLand 67 to 59 last Wednesday. A return game is planned, DeLand favors home turf, and park board thanks praise for reconditioning west rinks and six lanes.

Mount Dora Banker George J. White elected to Federal Reserve board

George J. White president of the First National Bank of Mount Dora was named a director of the Jacksonville Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta. His term begins January 1 1938 and lasts three years. White will remain Mount Dora executive of the local bank and his leadership during the Depression is praised as evidence of sound banking.

Mount Dora Knights Attend District Meet in Leesburg

A large Mount Dora delegation attended the Leesburg district meeting Monday evening and heard an address by Supreme Vice Chancellor E. L. Stapp of Miami. Grand Chancellor E. E. McDaniel introduced him. W. J. Ferris reported on district visitations. The evening included a light lunch and community singing. Mount Dora Lodge conferred Esquire on three candidates with more to be initiated next week.
