The Mount Dora community and many beyond mourn the untimely death of Dr. Robert Wason last week. About 400 attended his funeral at First United Methodist Church as dentists from across the state served as honorary pallbearers.
Delta Burke, Miss Florida, waves to onlookers during Mount Dora’s 17th annual Jaycees Christmas Parade. Santa Claus drew the largest crowd. four floats and three marching units earned top honors including South Lake Horsemen's Association, TOPS Mount Dora, First Baptist Sorrento, Mount Dora Girl Scouts, Central Florida Show Dolls, Florida's Starlettes, and Eustis All Stars.
Mount Dora City Council adopted two water related resolutions. One seeks 15000 from Lake County Planning Board for waterfront improvements with a report due by December 28. The second recognizes federal flood prone area survey enabling flood insurance purchases for residents.
Mount Dora hosts an annual community Christmas carol sing at 7 30 p m Thursday in Childs Park near the Chamber of Commerce at Third and Alexander downtown. Sponsored by the Chamber and Mount Dora Ministerial Association with area church choirs leading. If rain forces change the event moves to the Baggage Room. refreshments follow in the meeting room with Tom Rollins leading a second singalong.
