Community Christmas Carol Sing Draws Mount Dora Crowd
Almost 200 people attended Mount Dora's annual Christmas carol sing last Thursday hosted by the Ministerial Association outside the Chamber of Commerce. Tom Rollins donated piano backing for an old-fashion singalong after a half hour program, with a repeat planned for Valentine’s Day.

Lake Carlton drawdown plan eyed by Basin Board
The Oklawaha Basin Board will hold a Feb 21 public meeting with the Florida Game and Fresh Water Fish Commission to discuss a proposed 10 to 12 foot temporary drawdown of Lake Carlton between Leesburg and Lake Apopka. A USGS hydrologic study and a 30 to 60 day shutdown are planned to assess groundwater inflow before a permanent control structure is built.
