Graduating UF cadet Henry Land to be commissioned in Army
Henry W Land II son of State Rep and Mrs Henry W Land of Tangerine will graduate from the University of Florida in April 1966 and receive a commission as a second lieutenant. He earned the Distinguished Military Student Medal for ranking in the top third of his military class and top half of his academic class. He completed ROTC at Ft Bragg earning the Expert Riflery medal and served as brigade chief of staff to Cadet Col Gery Arnold. He joined Scabbard and Blade and attended the six week ROTC course at Fort Bragg. His family joined him for the graduation parade in Gainesville. His brother David, a freshman at UF, was promoted to private first class in the Gator Raiders at the ceremony.

Pilot Club Tree Project lights up three Mount Dora area trees
The Pilot Club of Lake County lights three Christmas Trees in Mount Dora Eustis and Tavares in memory of loved ones. Each tree bears a plaque with names and bulbs cost one dollar with proceeds funding civic and charitable projects. Ski Champions To Compete At Cypress Gardens
Reigning world and national water ski champions contest the 15th All-American Water Ski Championships at Cypress Gardens on December 18 and 19. 14 year old Liz Allan of Winter Park heads the women’s field after her world title in Australia, while Roland Hillier leads the men’s division. Competitors from South Africa Denmark Mexico France and the US aim to topple the favorites. The schedule features senior men’s salom jumping and tricks on Saturday and women’s and men’s events on Sunday. The American Water Ski Association sanctions the event with awards following the finale.
