Three non Rotarians will ask questions Ronald Aldrich Robert Bennett and Harlow Middleton. The Rotary Club of Mount Dora sponsors a candidates forum at 7 p.m. Dec. 9 in the Bank of Mount Dora community room. All six Mount Dora City Council candidates expected to attend. The meeting ends at 9 p.m. with Gary Bray moderating.

Mount Dora Library Groundbreaking Planned for Wednesday
A. W. Smith & Son Inc of Leesburg is the apparent low bidder for the Mount Dora Public Library project. Bids were opened Monday at city hall and the groundbreaking is set for 11 am Wednesday December 15 at Donnelly Street and Ninth Avenue. Ruth Richards and Jefferson Ray III will help dig the first shovelful with other city officials and library supporters present. Construction is estimated at five months with an additional 30 days for furnishing and book transfer.

City adopts parking law with graduated fines
Mount Dora City Council approved an ordinance establishing graduated fines for overtime parking in posted areas and a no parking rule within 20 feet of crosswalks. The measure, effective immediately, targets commercial districts downtown and in East Town. Mayor Tom Champion led the move.
