Mount Dora swimmers shine at Orlando parks meet
Bob Quixley wins 40 yard breast stroke and places in 40 yard and 220 yard free events. Ted Wingler earns 2nd in 40 yard back stroke. Their relay team takes second in the 60 yard race. Clayton Tremain defeats Charles Norris in four sets 6-1 9-7 10-12 9-7 to win the men’s Class A tennis title.

Thirty years ago two Mount Dora students, Mary Allen and Winifred Harding, graduated from Florida State College for Women with honors. The Lake County Health Unit plans a two week quarantine for anyone from six states with poliomyelitis outbreaks entering local schools.
