A house at 1434 Lakeshore Drive near Mount Dora was gutted by a Friday fire. Owners Mr and Mrs H L Young were away in Jacksonville. firefighters arrived after 10 15 p m under mutual aid rules but could not stop the blaze. All contents were lost and insurance covers only part of the damage.

Eustis All Stars edge Mount Dora in two Little League games
Eustis Little League All-Stars swept Mount Dora 54 and 53 in a two game set last week. In the Wednesday game at Eustis a last inning sacrifice bunt decided the win and Asberry Foster tied the game with a late double for Mount Dora. Matt Combee pitched for Mount Dora and held Eustis scoreless until the final frames. In the Saturday return at Mount Dora Eustis rallied from 3-0 in the seventh to take the game on five runs aided by two Mount Dora errors. Foster pitched for Mount Dora allowing only three hits.

FISHATHON returns to Mount Dora on Tem Lake
Mount Dora hosts the fourth FISHATHON at Lake Tem's Golden Triangle Center next weekend. Hours are noon to 8 p.m. Friday August 24 and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday August 25. Children ages 1 to 14 compete in three age divisions for a bicycle prize. each child must be with an adult and supply own gear.
