Mike Dunham reached the 800 meter finals with the event’s best qualifying time at the World Games for the Deaf in Malmo Sweden on July 28. He finished fifth after a late slip and expressed sympathy for Mount Dora supporters while Italy was reported to win the race.
The Rotary Club unveils its annual winter concert series in Mount Dora with most returning groups and tentative dates. Sunshine Pops Orchestra of Orlando kicks off with an Evening With the Pops at eight o’clock on Thursday December 13, continuing the season.
Mount Dora City Council votes Tuesday night to seek an injunction blocking Eustis from annexing land south of US 441 between Eudora Road and Morningside Drive. Councilman G R M Pearson and Councilwoman Shirley Murray vote for the measure, with Tyrone Parker dissenting. C O Lott absent. Pearson reports attending an Eustis meeting with Mrs. Murray.
Mount Dora City Council advanced a 20 inch well to be sited 190 feet from the existing one and approved street paving as part of regular business. The Singer Layne Atlantic bid stood at 37 669 dollars while discussions touched on water supply, relocation costs, and annexation tensions with Eustis. The council noted legal avenues to resolve boundary disputes and cited state action hopes via lawmakers.

Meetings will be held Aug 18, Sept 8, and Oct 6 in the Bank of Mount Dora community room with traffic, pollution, annexation, and financing experts to discuss the city and its environs with local politicians.
Roseborough Elementary hosts an open house August 23 for K5 parents. August 27 marks the first day with 8:15 a.m. bell, 2:50 p.m. dismissal for walkers, 3:05 for first-load buses. Registrations underway at district offices for new students.
