Carlton Promises Hearty Support To Practical Relief

Former Governor Doyle Carlton, nearing the end of his primary bid for the U S Senate, said he is not disturbed by the Townsend convention at Lakeland. He asserted support for social provision for the aged and youth opportunities, promising his hearty cooperation. Carlton plans closing broadcasts and tighter Carlton-for-Senate activity statewide led by campaign manager George Burr.

In a high scoring game Mount Dora and Umatilla traded runs with McComack earning the win for Mount Dora and Adkins taking the loss for Umatilla. Pepper Tours Florida As Unopposed Senate Candidate

Claude Pepper, the unopposed Democratic nominee for the unexpired Fletcher Senate term, travels Florida on a goodwill tour. He meets voters at Daytona Beach Sanford Orlando Tampa Tarpon Springs Clearwater St Petersburg and Daytona Beach events while planning to cover the state before November. Pepper says the trip helps him study needs and conditions to represent Florida fairly in Washington. He notes he may return to his Tallahassee office to finish business matters but will devote time to statewide study.

Citrus Shippers Must Register Box Labels for 1936 37

Florida Citrus Commission urges shippers to register box labels by September 1 for the 1936 37 season. Two copies of each label plus grade statement sent to Lakeland. one certified copy returned for posting in packing plants. Unregistered labels mean stamping the box end with the grade.

Council Hears Offers on Town Block and Orchard Property

The Town Council met for its regular session Tuesday night with H L Drugg proposing a 103 by 103 foot corner lot at Donnelly and Fourth for a store and apartments. Glenn Chapman offered for the town orange and grapefruit grove. With Simpson and Waltz out of state the property bids and delinquent taxes were tabled until a later meeting.

Old Adams Grove Sold Between Mount Dora and Eustis

The Adams grove between Mount Dora and Eustis owned by S. L. Harris was sold to H. E. Gibson of Gotha Florida. Gibson, a large citrus grower, aims to expand in Lake County and recently bought a grove near Leesburg. The sale, arranged by Lakes and Hills Realty Co, transfers the 40 acre tract once planted by Dudley Adams.
