Three white convicts from a Kissimmee state prison camp used a gun to steal a car from Zeb Jackson's daughter in East Town Mount Dora. The group fled toward Mount Dora, abandoned a gasoline-starved vehicle on Helen Street, and later forced a young Black man to reveal another car location. Police cooperated as dogs and night watchmen tracked them. shots were fired during the pursuit.

Young Mount Dora Residents Injured In Auto Crash
Three Mount Dora youths Miss Rhoda Simpson and Miss Shirley Drugg and Charles Norris plus Roland Dyson of Jacksonville were injured in a midday auto accident near Umatilla. Water hid a hole in the road causing the car to overturn and strike a palm tree. All but Norris were taken to Lake County Hospital at Umatilla for treatment.
