Leesburg Club Funds Big Brother Camp For Lake County
The Leesburg Brotherhood League will run the Big Brother Camp open to all Lake County children. With 98 sponsored so far from Leesburg and some from Tavares and Eustis, the 140 capacity still leaves openings for two boys and girls countywide. The program includes hygiene, first aid, life skills, crafts, swimming, and sports, with nurses and a special mothercraft class for girls.

Florida Safety Council seeks help to educate students
Wendell Heaton of Florida is urged to support the Florida Safety Council which aims to supply safety material to 2,000 schools and 12,000 teachers. A 25 cent membership per person is asked, as the council provides literature free of charge and serves schools, clubs, and organizations statewide. The group has distributed half a million items last year and visits civic groups across Florida to promote safety.

George J. Dykes of Tavares born August 8 1876 in Altoona Florida is celebrated as the first full fledged Florida Cracker honored at Lake County's Birthday Party. He is Circuit Court Clerk and recalls arriving before Lake County was formed. His hobbies include fishing and fruit and vegetables not spinach. Mrs Dyke Lena Walden is a native of Hillsboro County. He is active in the Baptist Church Kiwanis Elk Knights of Pythias and a Woodman.
