Packing House Tornado Hits Zellwood Farm

A large packing house at Zellwin Farms Zellwood was smashed by an apparent tornado on Tuesday. About 50 people inside reportedly escaped injury as winds tore the 80 by 200 foot structure apart and hurled debris over 200 feet, with nearby buildings and power lines affected.

Annual Pre School Round up at Roseborough Elementary

George Ware 78 Dies After Stroke in Leesburg

Funeral held for George Ware of Leesburg 78 who died Sunday from a stroke suffered April 1. Ware chaired First National Bank Leesburg and promoted Leesburg Lake County. He led Florida Orange Marketers and was Florida Bankers Association president and Leesburg Chamber leader. Survived by wife Clara, daughters Virginia Boyd and Margaret Cherry, sister Eva Mershon, and five grandchildren.

About 3,600 eligible voters will use two Mount Dora polling places Doris Furniture Co for Precinct 20 and City Hall for Precinct 31. Flavus Rose, 48, graduated last Friday from Florida State University with a Bachelor of Arts in industrial arts. He plans to teach in Central Florida. Rose, known for delivering two out of town papers, also attended Rollins College and Orlando Junior College while working.

2079 X-rays Taken Here During Survey

The X-Ray survey sponsored by the State Board of Health, the Lake County Health Dept. and Lake County Unit Central, Florida T.B. and R.D. Association, closed Saturday, April 25, with 12,855 X-rays made during a three week period. Three mobile units served Lake County at 62 stations. Negative cards will be mailed in May to those with no signs of tuberculosis. Some letters have been mailed and others will go out to those unsatisfactory or needing larger films for further study. There were 2,079 X-rays in Mount Dora, 21 in Lake Jem and 129 in Sorrento.
