Mount Dora Bass Tourney Awards Hit Record Weight
The Mount Dora Chamber of Commerce Bass Tournament weighed in nearly 1,700 pounds of black bass over four months. Roy Landis won a desk memo pad with a fisherman figure, R. J. Wetterlund earned a bass-decorated metal ash tray, and William Ewidner received a desk pen set on a bass. March winners included Miss Tish Ramey Ann Moninger Woodrow Bowman W M Lasater Walker Horsley and Paul Odom. The event drew many contestants and February alone weighed 581 pounds 12 ounces. Certificates of merit went to those weighing in a fish of three pounds or more.

Driver Faints Behind Wheel Near School Area
A 38 year old truck driver Daniel Mixson of Georgetown South Carolina fainted while driving an International Paper Co. semi. The rig veered over a curb into the Donley yard damaging shrubs and lawn but missing homes and streetlights. Mixson was taken to a hospital. In other traffic cases Mayor W D Patton fined Ogle Padlock 100 dollars for reckless driving after his auto breached a highway barricade near Grand View hotel. Carl Horton Donnelly Jr. was fined 25 dollars for driving without a license after his auto struck a light pole on 10th avenue claiming a stuck gear shift.
