Mount Dora seeks regional power authority to cut rates
Four Mount Dora representatives met with Lake County legislators in Tallahassee urging a bill to form an Orange Blossom Valley Authority modeled after a Tennessee system. The plan would build a $1.5 million power plant to serve Leesburg Mount Dora and Eustis, delivering cheaper electricity than Florida PowerCorp. due to wholesale rates. The scheme would start in 1960, after current contracts with Florida Power expire. King and Queen of the Prom at Lakeside Inn were Tommy Cleary and Carol Siess.
