Aces Soccer adapt summer training for 2015 season
Golden Aces coach Ed Berberich merged weight lifting and ball work into mixed sessions during Summer, doubling ball training from 6 to 13 practices while sustaining lifts. Four preseason matches yielded a 2-2 record, aiding player development and team cohesion as Berberich notes, sighting improvements in passing, use of the goalie, and attacking mindset. Mount Carmel High School basketball coach Tyler Buss oversaw a 30 game summer schedule across Indiana Illinois and Wisconsin. Despite losing nine seniors the Aces posted an estimated 20 wins and 10 losses as rising sophomores Braden Stipp Blake Golden and Dawson Brown boosted defense and long range shooting while 6 7 soph Jackson Marcotte and 6 7 junior Justin Carpenter added size. Senior leaders Justin Spear and Pete Smith organized the squad as Buss noted the team adapted from a non man to man setup to a faster defensive style.
