Hundreds of ex servicemen in Sur received bonds certified for cash by post office clerks from 7 to 10 PM on three nights. Beginning Friday a clerk will work daily to certify more bonds, with about 150 processed on Tuesday and Wednesday and roughly 400 payments already delivered locally totaling around 220000 dollars.

The Surry County health department runs daily clinics through July 17th offering typhoid, diphtheria, and smallpox protection. Mr. Ed Riddle of this city remains in serious condition at Duke University Hospital Durham. He suffers a senemic condition with complications that are hard to control and an immediate operation is necessary. His brothers Pondo and Eugene his sons and several friends went to Duke to offer blood for a transfusion.
