Mrs Inman Found Dead In Bed In Westfield
Martha Ann Inman aged 70 was found dead in bed at her Westfield home after a period of ill health. She was born April 30 1885 in Surry County to Cam and Sarah Inman. Funeral services were held at Woodville Baptist Church with multiple ministers and burial in the Inman family cemetery. Survivors include sons Robert Wilbur and Rowland, daughter Mrs Cook, eight grandchildren, a brother and three sisters.

Pennsylvania Man Charged With Robbery Here
Howard Dixon, 24, of Philadelphia, was arrested June 6 in Mount Airy on assault and robbery charges connected to the beating and theft from Robert Slate of Toast. Slate described two Negro men in a taxi forcing him into a car, taking change, and locking him in a bathroom before abandonment. Dixon faces Recorder's Court trial this week.

Turtle Dated 1880 Still Going Strong
Mr. L. A. Armstrong of Mount Airy found a turtle aged at least 75 years on his farm near Ararat. The underside bore J. A. A., 1880, the initials of his brother who died twenty years ago. The owner plans to release the elderly reptile back on the farm.

Tilton Receives 99 Year Term in Carroll County Murder Case
Lawnee Irby Tilton, 18, was convicted of first degree murder in the Carroll County slaying of Eldridge Bunn and sentenced to 99 years in the penitentiary. The verdict came from a Grayson County jury after an 18 minute deliberation at Hillsville.

New Dial System to Upgrade Dobson Exchange
The Dobson telephone exchange, the county's smallest, receives a new dial system to replace obsolete equipment.
