Reuben Alexander Golding a sawmill worker near Mount Airy was found dead in a wooded area off the Mount Airy Pipers Gap highway at 11 am Wednesday. He had been missing since noon Tuesday after leaving his father’s house. Coroner Dr. John L. Wolts ruled death by heart attack with no foul play. Born February 26, 1912 in Carroll County Virginia he was the son of Squire and Elizabeth Carson Golding. Survived by three brothers Emmett Ralph and others of Mount Airy and sisters Bertha and Marie Kinley.

A plane crash killed Elizabeth Reeves and her three children after 3000 gallons of fuel exploded in a wooded hill. Charles Kyles, a 46 year old Negro butler, survived, while Oveaths Jenkins, 45, a Charleston Negro, died of injuries.
