G E Welch is now at Martin Memorial Hospital after transfer from Duke Hospital where he was treated for paralysis at Priday. Since arriving, he has shown some improvement in his paralysis condition.
Martin Bennett announced this week that he has purchased the interest of D E Hodge in the Virginia Carolina Realty Co and will conduct the business in the future at the same Main Street office next Lamm Drug Store. Hodge will focus on his automobile business, with Bennett to be associated in auction sales.
The Right Rev Edwin A Penick D C Bishop of the Diocese will administer Holy Communion at Trinity Episcopal Church Mount Airy during the 11 a m service.

Mrs J L Cockerham left Thursday afternoon for Washington to attend the funeral of her son in law Claude Hutton who died one day ago. Funeral time noted as 11:00 a m. Local details incomplete but confirms the bereavement and travel.

Three Surry County men passed the state law exam as announced this Wednesday. Charles Lee Polger of Dobson and Lexington, Worth Barnard Polger of Dobson, and Charles Mitchell Neaves of Elkin are named as successful examinees.
