A lively house dance drew a good crowd at John Michalec Jr's residence last Sunday night. On Tuesday November 1 a gathering at Frank Krejci's home surprised Miss Bessie for her upcoming birthday. Guests enjoyed games and a friendly send off as they left wishing her well. A Stranger notes dances remain well attended and community health is good.
Mr Gus Gummelt and family returned to Hallettaville Monday after visiting the v C Kaase home north of town. A goodly number of the town's youths enjoyed a dance at the opera house Thursday evening of last week with The Cornelion orchestra at Schulenburg providing music and all attendees reporting a good time.

Mr and Mrs Emil Langhammer are now occupying their new home near Schulenburg. Visits by Hattie Ruhman Annie Strauss to Shiner. Otto Templin and family visited Prof and Mrs Beal. Leo Jaroszewski Otto Eilert and Henry Fehrenkamp and families were guests of Prof Beal and wife. Tulip November 8 1021.
Deer season opens as hunters flood into Gonzales Hartwell Kennard tops the town with the first large buck and by Thursday night the tally reaches eighteen fine bucks brought to town with others still afield.
A blaze at the Moulton Oil and Gin Company plant Saturday around one o’clock caused about 1500 dollars in damage. The fire started in the condenser area, likely from matches, and spread despite quick action by residents. The condenser, press, and building suffered damage while several bales of cotton burned modestly. Emergency services and locals connected hoses to the big tank as a bucket brigade formed, bringing the blaze under control within minutes.
Cuero residents R H Lapp and Fritz Schorre enjoyed a lecture and concert from Denver sixty miles more than 1 000 miles away via Lapp’s amateur radio station. They heard instruments clearly and the lecture like a local call. Lapp keeps Cuero connected when long distance lines fail and was among the first to relay World Series results from New York.

Sunday school starts at 9 each Sunday. Armistice service today in German at 10 30 this Friday at Moulton Lutheran Church. English service next Sunday at 7 30. Boursville church also hosts service next Sunday at 10 39. Everyone is invited.

The Sam and Will Moore Institute hosted a Hallowe'en entertainment by the We class of '22. The event drew social interest and covered expenses with a remaining balance of 40 dollars.
Miss Helen Kubman spent weekend in Shiner with her mother. Mr and Mrs T N Powell attended Hastrop fair, which ran from Wednesday to Saturday. A prank involved small hogs mailed to teachers with a note about trusting God and money in hogs. The faculty thanks the Powells for the humorous souvenir and timely suggestion.
The United States Civil Service Commission announces a rural carrier examination for Lavaca County to be held November 26, 1921, in Hallettsville Yoakum and Moulton. Eligibility requires county domicile and other Form 1977 requirements. salaries vary by route length. Applications may be obtained at local post offices or from the commission in Washington, D. C.
T J Piteb of Yoakum county statistician reports that 4 486 bales had been used in Lavaca county for the crop year 191 prior to October 18 compared with 9 781 bales on the same date last year.
