Memorial Services Held Here Sunday at Moulton Cemetery

A large crowd attended memorial services at Moulton Public Cemetery Sunday morning under Geier Merrem Post No 392 American Legion. The combined High School and American Legion Bands Fire Department and Boy Scouts led a formal program opened by Frank J Wagner. Rev K Jacobs gave the invocation and Doris Williams read The Unknown Soldier.

Twenty Four Graduate At Shiner High

The Eagle notes twenty four Shiner High School graduates. Evelyn Benarden was salutatorian and Ruby Fisseler valedictorian. Erwin Liebhafsky delivered the class oration. Dr. T H Etheridge of Sam Houston State Teachers College spoke. Rev Schuetze offered the invocation and Rev Guyon gave the invocation. The school orchestra, directed by Mrs S A Thulemeyer, performed.

Home Demonstration Club Report

The Moulton Home Demonstration Club met at the American Legion Hall on May 9 with Miss Pfeifer presenting a demo on combining home made popcorn cheese with fruits. A club picnic was set for the first Sunday in August at the home of Mr and Mrs Hugo Fisbeck.

In a Sunday game at Henkhaus Moulton defeated Yoakum 6 to 4. Moulton tallied 9 hits to Yoakum’s 7 with H. Kurtz leading Moulton at the plate with 8 hits and Heger pitching.

Prom Night At The Sam and Will Moore Institute

Juniors hosted the prom for seniors in the high school auditorium last Thursday night. Games and dancing provided entertainment. Refreshments were served to attendees.

Senator L J Sulak of LaGrange spoke Monday urging constituents to contact their legislators to back the county tax remission bill pending in the house. The measure, aimed at funding soil conservation work, had already passed the senate.

Iva Sue Jaeggli Earns Superior in Houston Piano Tourney

Mrs. Sam Jaeggli and daughter Iva Sue attended the National Piano Playing Tournament in Houston Saturday. Iva Sue was one of four pupils of Mrs. Clara D Madison to make a grade of Superior. Prof Hans Barth of New York judged the event.

Soil Conservation Plan Outlined For Texas Farmers

About one hundred farmers and business men heard a Moulton High School briefing on the new State Soil Conservation Law. Senator Sulak explained provisions creating districts up to 38 000 square miles with a multi stage process for district formation and supervision. The program includes federal aid, government seed and machines, and a two year funding of about 103 896 dollars with local cost varying by farm.

Home-Coming Draws Large Crowd at Old Moulton Event

Miss Dolores Brueggman and Emil Vrana Jr were married at Zion's Lutheran Church with Rev E Jacobs officiating. The ceremony featured music by Mrs Jacobs and Miss Ova Willis Janszen. After the wedding, the couple left for New Orleans and other points. A third annual Old Moulton homecoming drew hundreds from across the state, with a large dinner on two hundred foot tables, choral club performances, and reconnections after years away. Old officers were retained for next year.

Santone Good Will Trippers Visit Moulton

Twenty five Good Will Trippers of San Antonio visited Moulton Wednesday morning calling at local businesses and greeting proprietors and employees. Their itinerary included twenty one towns in San Antonio's trade territory. Citizens welcomed the Alamo City representatives.

Soil Conservation Committee Holds First Lavaca Meeting

John Hofner of Lavaca County SCS Advisory Board attended the initial board meeting in Hallettsville on Friday. Joe Grahmann was elected chairman secretary and Joe Kouba was chosen delegate to the district convention held at Kennedy on Monday.

Tom-Tom Boosters Visit Moulton

The Yoakum Tom-Tom Boosters visited Moulton on Wednesday morning in two buses and several cars. They invited locals to join the Tom-Tom celebration on June 8 9 and 10. Yoakum High School Band played several numbers and Supt. George P Barron outlined this year’s events. Moulton will send its visitors to the Tom-Tom.

Ordination at Corpus Christi Blesses First Mass

Rev. Herbert Henry Bockholt was ordained at St Patrick's Cathedral Corpus Christi on May 18 and celebrated his first solemn mass at Visitation Church Westphalia on May 23. Mr and Mrs William Bratrich of Moulton attended the service.

LaSalle Monument Unveiled at Indianola Texas

Port Lavaca May 21 over 2000 people gathered on Matagorda Bay to dedicate a statue of Rene Robert Cavalier Sieur de La Salle at the site of old Indianola where he landed in 1685 about 800 Indianola descendants attended. The unveiling was done by Grace Montier Sells and Rice professor Marcel Moraud gave the principal address. The Old Indianola Association re elected S R Reed president and heard Robert Lee Bobbitt speak.

Hallettsville Texas May 18 a severe electrical hail and rain storm hit at 2 am lasting about 15 minutes with hail from marble to baseball size. First Visit Hear In 42 Years

William F. Mick returned to Chicago Friday after a pleasant visit with relatives. He is a brother of Mrs. Marie John of Corpus Christi and Mrs. Ad Schacherl, Anton and Ad Mueck of this section. This was his first visit here in 42 years, he leaving here before his younger sister Mrs. Senacherl was born. Mrs. Jahn accompanied her brother to Chicago for a visit.
