Baccalaureate Service for 1939 Sam and Will Moore Institute Senior

A large group of friends and relatives gathered Sunday night at the new auditorium for the baccalaureate service. The class entered to The Pilgrims played by the School Band. Speaker was Superintendent Stanley F. Cernosek with Rev. Joseph Kopp. Rev. Emmit Kolodzie delivered the sermon. The High School Choral Club sang Deep River and God of Our Fathers. Rev. Koerth gave the invocation and benediction.

Hallettsville Man's Father Succumbs

Frank Jares 86 died at his home near Worthing on May 24. Burial was at St. Mary's with Rev. Ed Marski officiating. A native of Czechoslovakia he came to Texas at age two and lived in Worthing 56 years. Survived by son F W Jares of Hallettsville and daughters Mrs. Mary Dolezal Yoakum and Pauline and Johanne Jares of Worthing. The Eagle extends sympathy.

Single Ladies Defeat Married Women In Softball Victory

The single ladies defeated the married women 29 to 13 after seven innings at the city softball grounds. The game featured notable hitting with multiple two and three base hits and four home runs.
