Zions Lutheran announces a series of religious events from March 31 through Easter April 9. Adults and children instruction classes, Sunday School, confirmation exams, English and German services, and Holy Supper celebrations led by Pastor K Jacobs. Special sunrise service and baptismal ceremonies noted.
Joe Meyer of the Moulton Oil and Gin Company became critically ill and was rushed to a San Antonio hospital for treatment on Monday.
Mr and Mrs Leo Jaroszewski were in Martindale Monday for an unspecified visit or local engagement. The brief note places the couple in Martindale on that weekday.
Goodyear Tire and Rubber announces plans to use over sixty million pounds of southern cotton in 1939, surpassing 1938 usage. The firm reports progress in cotton cord construction, converting four mills in Alabama and Georgia to new fabric for longer mileage, plus development of Rayotwist rayon cord for extreme conditions.

I E Valenta of Sweet Home visited Moulton on Monday to seek support in his bid to succeed the late J J Olsen in the Texas legislature.
A prominent Sweet Home citizen I E Valenta announces his candidacy for Representative of the Twenty Third District in the April 10 special election to fill the unexpired term of J J Olsen. He cites 35 years in public service farming business and civic work and asks voters to support his bid for a business administration and rural improvement.
The Moulton Boy Scouts joined 1400 from Capitol Area for a parade in Austin on First Street to Congress Avenue and a supper at a park near the State Capitol. They welcomed National President Walter W Head on his first regional visit. Gratitude is given to local supporters for enabling attendance and a list of attending Scouts is provided.
