Bevan and Pietsch Elected Trustees in Moulton ISD

In the Moulton Independent School District trustee race on Saturday 149 votes were cast Charles Bevan won with 102 votes and Louis Pietsch with 95. They replace Roy Kotzebue and Erwin Oehl who did not seek re election. Holdover trustees are J B Wilson F C Smith Albert Pusejovsky Ed Batey and Herbert Fiedier. Election officers were George von Lienen presiding judge Stanley F Cernosek and Weldon Knape.

Fire Department Holds Meeting at Moulton Station

The Moulton Volunteer Fire Department held its regular monthly meeting at the fire station on Monday night April 3 led by vice president Vladik Boehm. Minutes from the previous meeting were approved and bills totaling 3.25 were paid. Emil Aschenbeck was admitted as an honorary member. Delegates reported on the firemen's convention. reports were accepted and delegates discharged. Roll call showed 20 active and 7 honorary members present. The meeting adjourned with no further business.

The Moulton P T A meets Wednesday evening April 12 with Reverend Jacobs addressing The Influence of the Church on Modern Youth. The Moulton school rhythm band and the High School Choir will perform. This is the final night meeting of the year and attendance is urged.

Census reveals surge in Moulton Independent students

Tom Shan der a has completed the scholastic census of the Moulton Independent School District showing 815 children of scholastic age this year up from 306 last year an increase of 9 in percentage terms. The district counts 297 white and 19 colored children.

WPA Approves Allotment for Moulton Street Work

Mayor F. T. Fehrenkamp announced that Works Public Administration approved an allotment of $7,904 for street improvement in Moulton after a telegraph from Congressman J. J. Mansfield. The grant will fund local paving and repairs to enhance traffic flow and safety.

Mansfield Receives Blood Transfusion Aiding Recovery

Representative Mansfield of Texas was given a blood transfusion at a naval hospital on Tuesday. Doctors reported his condition has greatly improved since he was admitted about two weeks ago and said the transfusion could speed his recovery and possibly spare him a hemorrhoid operation.

Liegh Walker of Blanco, a former Moulton resident, was here last week on business. Assistant Engineer Dockery of the State Highway Department visited Moulton last week. Miss Lorena Ruth Smith of Austin, a stenographer in the house of representatives, visited her parents. Edmund Kram, local fireman, recovering from an leg injury and aims to be ready for the Yorktown firemen races April 20. Attorney and Mrs Horace Wimberly Jr of Yoakum visited on business. Wimberly is a candidate for Lavaca county representative. Paul F. Brier of Hallettsville, also a candidate for the legislature, was in Moulton with his two daughters Mary Agnes and Julia.

Lutheran College Band Here Monday Night

The Texas Lutheran College Band directed by F. W. Tampke performs at Zion's Lutheran Church in Moulton on Monday night April 10. An all American program with solos duets and a German band excerpt will be presented by thirty musicians. The band tours nationally and plays at major events. Concert starts at 8:00 pm with free admission and a silver offering to defray costs.

Light Vote Polled In City Election In Moulton

Only eighty votes were polled in the Moulton city election on Tuesday. Joe Biehunke led with 68 votes for mayor, Fred F. Fehrenkamp 11, Oscar Kaiser 1. Fred Pietsch re-elected and Elo C. Fehrenkamp elected to the board of aldermen with 58 and 53 votes respectively. Wm. Wachtendorf was re-elected city secretary with 77 votes. Election officers were George von Lienen judge, William Hillmer and G. J. Bohnenkamp clerks.

Paul F. Brier for Representative in Lavaca County

The Eagle announces Paul F. Brier of Hallettsville as candidate to fill the unexpired term of J. J. Olsen. Brier, longtime Lavaca resident since 1886, served in the Spanish American War and 26 years as a mail carrier. A special election will be held in Lavaca county on Monday April 10 to fill the unexpired term of the late Hon J J Olsen. William Hillmer will preside at Moulton with polls opening at 8 o clock in the morning at the bank building.
