Austin June 18 lawmakers raised the total budget to 850000 after approving an extra 100000 for expenses. The House had already added 75000 to 760000 previously appropriated, making this the most costly Texas session. Members were paid 10 a day for 120 days and 5 thereafter, with 163 days in session at adjournment.
Mr and Mrs Edward Dariley returned from their honeymoon to a surprise party at the Evergreen schoolhouse Saturday evening. A large gathering of friends and relatives attended. Refreshments were served and many beautiful gifts were given. The couple was wished a long life of happiness and prosperity.
Mr. Burke a Red Cross field man from St. Louis visited Moulton on Tuesday seeking volunteers to lead a membership drive next November. He warned the town risks losing the Red Cross funds if interest remains low. Details on the annual roll call were available at the local office.
The Moulton Branch of the Lavaca County Farmers' League will hold its regular monthly meeting at the Moulton High School auditorium Monday night June 19 beginning at 8 30 o clock. Members and non members are urged to attend.

Congressman J. J. Mansfield resumes his duties in the House following a medical absence at the Naval Hospital. The veteran lawmaker, renowned for leading the rivers and harbors committee, was greeted with an ovation by colleagues from both parties.
The Eagle editor and his wife plan a tour of newspapers within seventy five to one hundred miles. He says long work years yield few true friends and wealth is not happiness, emphasizing neighborliness and plans to visit publishers in their territories.

William Darilek of Henkhaus celebrated his 95th birthday and remains in excellent health. He enjoys chores around the place and is a member of the Evergreen School Parent Teacher Association.
Sunday morning services at St. Joseph's Church in Moulton for Corpus Christi Day were conducted by Rev. Kopp who was ill and assisted by Rev. Okrah lik. Music was provided by the Parish Band directed by Ad. Darilek.
John Bartos of near Moulton sustained a painful hand injury Saturday while repairing an automobile. Surgical attention was promptly provided and he is reported doing as well as could be expected under the circumstances.
Mrs M Luke mother of Mrs F Smith has been visiting for six weeks and returned to her Patterson Louisiana home Saturday.
Mr. W. H. Burt and family of San Marcos visited here for the weekend. Burt is attending the summer session of the State Teachers College at San Marcos.
Little Miss Aurelia Dietz of San Antonio spent several days visiting in the home of her uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Julius Krejei.
Mrs. Henry Etlinger of Yoakum and Mrs. William Schmeltekopf with daughter Merle of Kyle visited in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Kolar on Sunday.
The Moulton Volunteer Fire Department racing team travels to Harlingen to compete in the state convention events. Members include Emil Beran Harvey Louis Fehrenkamp Edmund Kram Edward Darilek Fred F Fehrenkamp and Lee Jarosek.
Moulton shut out Hallettsville 7 to 0 to move into second place in the Catholic league. Battery pairs were Dari lek and Pobler for Moulton and Rother and Chovanets for Hallettsville. Next up Moulton faces Petersville at Sulphur Park on Sunday May 18 in what promises to be the season’s best game.
The Sam and Will Moore Institute renovation moves toward completion with stuccoed outer walls planned to match the new auditorium gymnasium. The Eagle notes the modernization progress and the building’s updated appearance as the project nears finish.
The Forty sixth Texas Legislature will end at noon Wednesday June 21. The house voted 98 to 47 to end the session, and the senate had already agreed to adjourn on that date.
Mr and Mrs Marvin Merrem attended the summer session at Southwest Texas State Teachers College in San Marcos and spent the weekend with relatives and friends.
Wesley Knape, a Texas Lutheran College graduate, earned a gold pin and chain for outstanding musical effort. He served as first chair trumpet in the college band.
A 20 year old youth robbed the People's State Bank in Hallettsville of 895 dollars and surrendered three hours later in Wharton at the post office to Chief Deputy Sheriff Buck Flourney. The suspect, a Bo ling resident, admitted the hold up as officers linked his car to the crime. Charges expected soon.
Music lovers from Moulton gathered at Westhoff High School Tuesday night to hear the Tex 8 Lutheran College Ramblers, part of the Seguin College Band. The program featured semi classics solos and novelty numbers with Rev Ander of Seguin College and Rev Hoermann of Westhoff addressing the crowd.
The Universal Mills Cowboy Band of Fort Worth performed a concert on an improvised platform in front of R. B. Papacek's Store Saturday afternoon. A large crowd attended as Red Chain flour and feeds were advertised. Cake and coffee were served by the National Biscuit Company and the Duncan Coffee Company.
Superintendent Stanley F. Cer nosek conducts a summer program for students seeking extra work. Classes run every weekday morning.
The Geier Merrem Post and Auxiliary of the American Legion gave a party for newlyweds Mr. and Mrs. Edmund Woehler at Sulphur Park last Thursday evening. Refreshments included sandwiches cake and iced tea. The couple received a blanket from the Legion and Auxiliary presented by Fred Fehrenkamp as the crowd dispersed after a social evening of dancing and conversation.
Rev. John Anders of Praha will observe his twenty fifth year in the ministry Sunday June 18. He was ordained at Weimar and has served at Yoakum Cistern and Praha.
4 H girls clubs of Lavaca County organized a county council with Arvella Gerlich as chairman Mineola Huber as vice chairman and Ethne Kubena as secretary measurer. The annual recreation camp will be held June 13 and 14 at Bluecher Park Shiner under the direction of Witting Sweet Home and Bunjes clubs.
