Pension rolls rise in Texas for June

The Old Age Commission reports Texas pension rolls increased by 204 to 112,204 from May to June. Checks totaling 1,548,258 will be mailed starting June 10. The month saw 687 deaths and 701 application denials.

General Approves Lavaca Bridge Repair Bond Issue

Attorney General William McCraw approves a 1 735 51 bond for Lavaca county to repair the Lavaca river bridge on the Witting Komensky road. The single twenty year bond bears 8 percent interest, issued May 15 1998 with a 1952 maturity, based on 12 920 090 in taxable value and a tax levy of 0 002 per 100.

The Moulton Volunteer Fire Department held its regular meeting at the American Legion hall with 17 active and seven honorary members present.
