Moulton Volunteer Fire Department Schedules Meetings and Picnic
The Moulton Volunteer Fire Department held its regular meeting at the American Legion Hall. Edward Darilek and Marvin Merrem were chosen to attend the Firemen's Training School at A and M College July 12 to 16. The department allocated 15 to help Chief W. H. Pundt attend the state convention at Port Arthur. A holiday meeting was set for Friday July 2 at 8 P M. A picnic for firemen and families was planned for Sunday June 27 with Assistant Chief Henry Fehrenkamp as general chairman and a list of committee heads.

Two Girls Drown In Lavaca River Near Vanderbilt
Edna Texas June 7 Margie Williams and Eugenia Nieder both 15 of Topeka Kansas visiting relatives at Vanderbilt drowned in the Lavaca River near the Missouri Pacific drawbridge. Nieder swam into deep water and began to sink. Williams jumped in to help and both were pulled under. Bodies recovered about an hour later. Parents and party had traveled from Topeka. Bodies to be taken to Topeka for burial.
