The state Democratic convention at Brownwood selected an uninstructed delegation to the national convention in Philadelphia on July 12 and they are free to oppose Truman’s nomination. The Republican convention at Corpus Christi instructed delegates to back Senator Robert Taft. Hugo Koether of Shiner named a Ninth district delegate. Roger Q. Evans of Denison announced his candidacy for the Democratic gubernatorial nomination. Governor Beauford H. Jester seeks re election.
